The goal of the Fire Marshall’s Office is to educate the public to take precautions to prevent potentially harmful fires, using a proactive method of reducing emergencies and the damage caused by them.


  • Created, implemented, and led a county-wide education and distribution program for smoke alarms known as: "Operation Fire Safe." 799 smoke alarms and 161 batteries have been installed countywide since the program began.
  • Obtained a Red Cross donation of more than 2000 fire alarms
  • Spent approximately 20 hours working with the IT department to develop an application that the Fire Department could use on tablets to track locations they had already visited.
  • Created door flyers that were used to educate homeowners of potential dangers in their households, ways to check smoke alarms and change the batteries, and how to effectively create a home escape plan.
  • Wrote a federal grant application for $150,000 in funding
  • Spent more than 95 hours of the internship planning a tabletop exercise with the adjacent fire departments to improve readiness and response performance.
