Work History

Student Volunteer

Miracles In Motion (Special Needs Dance Program)

Through the "Aspire Dance Ensemble" I was offered to volunteer at the MIM spring showcase. During 2024-PRESENT seasons, I would go on a Saturday (Dress rehearsal) and Sunday (Showcase) to help the older dancers in their quick costume changes backstage, hair accessory changes, and and make up touchup and shoe changes. I also helped onstage with the students who needs assistance, reminders during a dance, run/walk to side during show, etc. I also was accompanied by my fellow dancers in our own 2 dances a year to contribute to the community around me in my love for dance.

Assisted with current/former teammates in a youth camp during the summer. I helped with drills, gameplay, skills, my own position's needs (setter) and answered lots of questions about my experience on the team.

2026 Governor School Residency

In April 2026, I was accepted into the Radford University Governor school operated by the state of Virginia. I auditioned and was nominated by my school, then county, then was chosen by the state. This program had over 800 applicants, 336 accepted and 30 dancers. I spent 3 weeks in intensive training that included 9am-5pm classes Mon-Fri, a shown Contemporary, West African and a self-Choreographed group piece. I took Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, West African, Korean, improvisation, and composition classes throughout these weeks. On top of that, I was moved into a dorm room and had to manage time, my dance and social skills and keep myself on time, and in line. I participated in the "Open mic night" which is just like a talent show; I learned a 2:40 minute dance in less than 20 hours and performed it with my new-found friends infront of the rest of the students. Another responsibility I had to keep in mind was our "Check ins", these happened at 8am, 6:30pm, and 9:30pm every day (weekends different) and if I was late without notice I would be written up. I never was late to any of these! On the weekends, there were activities to choose from, and "open studio" which was 12-4pm and I was in there lots with my group working on our self-choreographed piece.
