Experience with Local Businesses

  • As I approach graduation, my coursework involves collaborating with local businesses to develop and implement marketing strategies, generate ideas to increase sales, and evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies and ideas.
  • Business 1 - Latinos Taste: Latinos Taste is a local, community, and culture-based restaurant. I helped develop strategies that increased customer traffic, reinforced their community-driven reputation, and addressed their weaknesses.
  • Business 2 - Arabica Cafe: Arabica Cafe is a local coffee shop that blends Mediterranean flavors with a classic American café experience. It’s a popular spot where locals enjoy coffee and meals with friends and family, while Radford University students often use it as a quiet place to study. To better understand customer satisfaction, my classmates and I created a survey using Qualtrics, evaluating key factors such as food quality, wait time, ambience, value for money, and customer service. We are currently awaiting the final survey results. Once completed, we plan to share our findings with Arabica Cafe and discuss potential ways to improve their business based on the feedback.

Marketing Strategies for Latinos Taste

  • Food Truck: Helps build customer base in new areas, gives the business exposure, and gives people who are reluctant to go to the restaurant an opportunity to try their food.
  • Social Media Revamp: Bring exposure to the business, especially to the younger generations, run targeted ads, and help reinforce brand image.
  • Paid Advertising (TV Commercial and Billboards): Place billboards in high-traffic areas of town, reach audiences not on social media, and direct customers to digital marketing on social media.
  • College Student Discount (Area-Related): Increase traffic of a key demographic in the area who is currently underrepresented amongst the customer base, and reinforces their image as a community-based restaurant.
