• Started and ended reverse osmosis water systems and completed water quality monitoring tests.
• Set-up equipment for dialysis and primed dialyzer in preparation for use.

• Home champion: I have previous experience in home dialysis which allows me to provide patients a clearer understanding of home modalities and the benefits that come when they choose a home option.

AA role:

• Answering phones, greeting patients, creating rapport so patients have a safe environment to speak up or ask questions.
• Insuring consents are printed and signed, arranging travel, transfers and incoming patients. Creating and maintaining patient charts.
• Assisting with patient scheduling and the flow of the work day. Having a duel role allows me to step in where I'm needed most.
• Inventory and ordering, while helping maintain our budget.
• Working along side and assisting my FA with tasks to keep our unit running efficiently.

• I participated in "round table " meetings discussing policies and procedures and any updates or changes that made be needed.
• My last 3 1/2 years with UVA I worked in the home training department. I mostly worked in our Transitional Start Unit.
• I was a part of the study conducted, as the TSU was still a fairly new concept. In addition to initiating and monitoring treatments, I reinforced education provided by the RN and followed the patients for a year to see if outcomes improved for patients who participated in a TSU vs those who did not.
• My participation in our home department allotted me the opportunity to speak on a panel for NxStage and I participated in a NxStage webinar about the value of technicians in home units.
• I assisted with clinic days, rooming patients, obtaining vitals and gathering any supplies they may need to maintain the flow of patients being seen that day.
