  • Started and ended reverse osmosis water systems and completed water quality monitoring tests.
  • Set-up equipment for dialysis and primed dialyzer in preparation for use.
  • Explained dialysis procedures to patients and answered questions and concerns.
  • Measured and recorded patients' pre-dialysis and post-dialysis vitals.
  • Cleaned and cannulated/connected fistulas, grafts and catheters following infection control procedures.
  • Set up and operated dialysis machines for patients receiving dialysis treatments
  • Explained dialysis procedures and hemodialysis machine operation to patients prior to treatment to ease anxieties.
  • Precepted new teammates the Davita Way.

  • I was a part of the study conducted, as the TSU was still a fairly new concept. In addition to initiating and monitoring treatments, I reinforced education provided by the RN and followed the patients for a year to see if outcomes improved for patients who participated in a TSU vs those who did not.
  • My participation in our home department allotted me the opportunity to speak on a panel for NxStage and I participated in a NxStage webinar about the value of technicians in home units.
  • I assisted with clinic days, rooming patients, obtaining vitals and gathering any supplies they may need to maintain the flow of patients being seen that day.
