Make sure customers have a good experience with a friendly demeanor.
Interactions with younger customers sometimes involved managing behavior that could be harmful.
Fussy toddlers or full on temper tantrums- I remain calm and vigilant to possible action needed on my part.
Collaboration - When a customer has asked me where a certain item is, I engage with co-workers if I’m uncertain how to guide them.
Assistant Teacher
La Petite Academy of Ashburn
Ashburn

Assist the lead teacher in various classrooms of 6 to 13 children aged 1 to 5.
Help set up activities and help plan activities for the day.
Improvising lesson plans. Sometimes with younger kids the schedule didn't go as planned. I used what we had in the classroom to come up with a fun activity that was educational and worked on different skills.
Collaboration with lead- Oftentimes, the lead and I worked together to come up with a plan for the days of the week, making lesson planning a lot easier.
Giving advice for out of school problems - When one of the children was acting up, I talked to her and it turned out something was happening at school so I offered a listening ear and gave them advice as to how to handle their emotions, resulting in better behavior by the child.
Assistant Guide
Guidepost Montessori
Severna Park
07.2022 - 07.2023
Assisted a lead teacher in a variety of classrooms of 6 to 10 children.
Experience includes working with six-month-old babies to 5-year-old pre-kindergarteners.
Approved to move to expanding school in Reston VA.
Support Workgroup Time - when the students worked on their own worksheet or center, like using crayons to learn how to count; I ensured they were on task. If they were struggling, help them figure it out independently without giving them the answer.
Dealing with infant messes – when working with infants, things can get messy. It’s always good to stay calm and find a way to remedy the situation. I changed diapers, even when there was a blowout, that got my clothes dirty. I encouraged them to work on their next milestone and cheered when they did, like taking their first step.
Montessori and Teacher Education – improving our knowledge of Montessori and child care methodologies is a large part of Guidepost. Completed 60 hours of courses before starting and 5 hours a week of ongoing education.
