  • Project Title - Enhanced Enterprise CICD Pipeline for Multi-ASV/Multi-Account Deployment
  • Project Overview: This project focused on enhancing the existing Enterprise Managed CICD pipeline to support Multi-ASV and Multi-account deployments for Docker, container, and serverless applications within Capital One. The goal was to build a more flexible and scalable pipeline capable of efficiently distributing applications across multiple AWS accounts, thereby increasing the reusability and efficiency of common application software platforms.
  • My Contributions: In my multifaceted role, I was responsible for overall delivery while serving as a people leader, guiding the technical team through effective leadership and mentorship. I oversaw performance management, ensuring that team members met their goals and aligned with project objectives. I also conducted thorough code reviews to maintain high-quality standards and resolve any technical issues encountered during development. My leadership played a crucial role in mentoring team members, helping them grow professionally, and ensuring the success of production rollouts, delivering smooth and efficient results.
  • As the project lead, I was instrumental in both the planning and execution phases of this initiative. My key contributions included: Architecting the Multi-ASV and Multi-Account Framework: I designed and implemented a robust framework that allowed for seamless deployments across multiple ASVs and AWS accounts. This enhanced capability ensured smoother management of application versions and configurations, reducing operational complexity and manual oversight.
  • Integration of Docker, Container, and Serverless Technologies: I led the integration of modern deployment technologies, such as Docker, containerized services, and serverless platforms, ensuring the new CICD pipeline was fully equipped for modern cloud-native architectures. This required a strategic overhaul of the existing infrastructure to future-proof the pipeline.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: I coordinated efforts across various technical and non-technical teams, facilitating the transition from custom pipelines to the enhanced Enterprise Managed pipeline. This included providing guidance, conducting training sessions, and ensuring the teams were well-versed in the new system capabilities.
  • Optimization and Troubleshooting: I led efforts to troubleshoot deployment issues, refine the pipeline's performance, and optimize workflows. This helped reduce deployment times and improve the reliability of critical systems.
  • Strategic Alignment: I worked closely with senior leadership to align the technical aspects of this enhancement with broader business goals, ensuring that the pipeline supported the organization’s long-term strategy for operational efficiency and innovation.
  • Team Empowerment: Fostered a collaborative environment by encouraging team members to take ownership of their tasks, empowering them to contribute ideas for enhancing the CICD pipeline.
  • Mentorship: Provided guidance and support to junior team members, helping them develop their skills in pipeline management and best practices for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Conflict Resolution: Effectively addressed conflicts within the team by facilitating open discussions and promoting a culture of respect and understanding, leading to a more cohesive working environment.
  • Recognition of Achievements: Implemented a recognition system to celebrate team accomplishments, motivating team members and reinforcing a positive team culture.
  • Training and Development: Identified skill gaps within the team and organized training sessions on the latest CICD tools and methodologies, enhancing the team’s overall capability and confidence.
  • Feedback Culture: Established a regular feedback loop to ensure continuous improvement, encouraging team members to share insights on pipeline performance and areas for enhancement.
  • Vision and Strategy: Communicated a clear vision for the enhanced CICD pipeline, aligning team efforts with organizational goals and fostering a sense of purpose among team members.
  • Change Management: Led the team through the transition to the enhanced pipeline by managing change effectively, addressing concerns, and providing support to ensure a smooth adoption process.

  • Project Title - AWS Cloud Migration and Adoption
  • Project Overview: The Capital One Customer Resiliency Team plays a vital role in assisting customers facing financial difficulties by offering personalized, empathetic, and transparent solutions. As part of a broader initiative to enhance the team’s ability to support customers, the department migrated from legacy on premise systems to a cloud-based infrastructure on AWS. This move was aimed at improving the overall scalability, efficiency, and speed of Capital One’s financial services while ensuring seamless, real-time customer support.
  • My Contribution: Migration from Legacy Systems: I led the transformation of our data processing pipeline from an on-premises, legacy system utilizing ETL jobs and Teradata to a modern, cloud-native architecture. This included migrating mainframe data processes to AWS services, particularly Amazon S3 and PostgreSQL. By redesigning the workflow, I enabled direct uploads of mainframe files to AWS S3, allowing the Quantum Framework to process and load data into PostgreSQL. This overhaul significantly reduced dependency on outdated systems and improved both scalability and performance.
  • Cloud Architecture Design: I architected a scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure using AWS, optimizing for high-performance data processing and storage flexibility. This architecture allowed us to manage large volumes of customer data in real time, enabling rapid decision-making. The shift to AWS services such as S3 and PostgreSQL enabled our systems to be more adaptive, robust, and able to handle varying workloads with greater efficiency, ultimately enhancing the overall customer experience.
  • Shared Infrastructure Management: I played a critical role in creating and maintaining shared infrastructure for all teams under the Customer Resiliency umbrella. This included the design and management of a shared ECS (Elastic Container Service) cluster, which supported multiple environments such as Development, QA, and Production. By centralizing this infrastructure, we were able to optimize resource utilization across different teams, enhance scalability, and reduce infrastructure duplication, leading to cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Automation & Optimization: I automated data ingestion and processing workflows, minimizing manual intervention and increasing the speed at which customer data was processed. This allowed support teams to respond to customer needs with greater accuracy and efficiency. The automation not only streamlined operations but also improved the accuracy and timeliness of customer data, contributing to better service delivery.
  • Cybersecurity and Compliance: In addition to infrastructure management, I took responsibility for maintaining the cybersecurity posture and compliance of our shared environments. This included managing regular system rehydration, patching vulnerabilities, and ensuring that all systems aligned with the latest cybersecurity standards. By implementing robust security controls and automated monitoring, I ensured that our infrastructure was both secure and compliant with regulatory standards, minimizing risks and safeguarding customer data.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Throughout the transformation, I worked closely with multiple teams, including data engineering, development, operations, and the Customer Resiliency team, to ensure a seamless migration and system alignment with operational goals. By fostering collaboration and open communication, we ensured that the new cloud-based infrastructure met both technical and business objectives without disrupting critical customer service processes.
