  • Job site inspections- making sure everyone has proper PPE on as well as doing the job safely. Having great knowledge of the work done at Storm Water including replacing pipe, concrete work, removing blockages, pond work, asphalt work, parging, snow removal, landscaping, mowing, and other projects.
  • Having great knowledge of all tools and equipment we use including weed eaters, hedgers, blowers, drills, mowers/quick cuts, concrete saws, sawzall, chainsaws, pole saws, concrete mixers, various types of hand tools as well as skid steers, kubotas, backhoes, loaders, excavators, plow trucks, dump trucks, and other smaller vehicles.
  • Give training and presentations to groups on safety topics such as equipment, job sites, and all hazards related to the job at least once a month to groups of employees at Storm Water.
  • Give new employees orientation on safety for Storm Water, Storm Water Planning, and Urban Forestry. As well as training when needed such as Confined Space Training and all training related to the job. As well as teaching others about JHAs (Job Hazards Analyst) and SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and Confined Space Entry Sheets and how to fill them out and give the information.
  • Attend classes and provide the information giving to employees such as OSHA training.
  • Train employees on LYTX drivecam and how to drive safely as well as checking LYTX daily for anything that may need coached and help coach the individuals when needed.
  • Check and send emails daily with updates throughout the day using outlook.
  • Inspect accidents and injuries as they occur and contact Corvel and Risk Management via email and phone call to assure the employees are taking care of and everything is properly documented.
  • File away documents such as confined space sheets, injuries, and accident forms.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers once a month, as well as site inspections of West Dr, CMF, and DMF to make sure the facilities do not have any hazards and the equipment, and tools are being properly maintained.
  • Participate on the snow team in the DOC during snow shifts. Make sure everyone is being safe and properly hydrated and helping out as needed when issues arise.

  • Supervise a crew of up to 6 workers including Heavy Equipment Operators, Motor Equipment Operators, Crew Chiefs, Senior Maintenance Workers, and Maintenance Workers.
  • Make sure the team is staying on task with the job at hand and prepared as well as making sure they are fulfilling their duties in a timely but most importantly safe manor.
  • Plan out work ahead by inspecting jobs and sites ahead of times and communicating with the crew the task at hand. Also by making sure we have all necessary equipment and vehicles scheduled to start the job.
  • Make sure all vehicles and equipment are inspected with proper documentation filled out, and maintenance as need be.
  • Help create work orders when needed as well as close out work orders as we complete them.
  • Send out daily emails with the work scheduled for the day to the senior leaders.
  • Attend seminars and classes dealing with snow maintenance, water erosion, damn safety and maintenance, as well as any others that pertain to Storm Water maintenance.
  • Attend meetings to make sure task are being completed and there aren't any issues that need to be taking care of. If so we discuss how to take care of them and offer to help in any way.
  • Attend snow meetings and help in snow maintenance by leading a crew of 3-4 drivers and make sure they know the area and sites they are maintaining and are keeping up with the task at hand in a timely and safe manor. As well as maintaining the sites I am assigned and communicating/ documenting how the shift is going and any problems that may arise to my snow captain.
  • Complete evaluations on my crew yearly to ensure they are maintaining a good work ethic and advancing in their career plan.
  • Go over drive cams with anyone on my crew who may receive one and make sure they understand the importance of any safety violations they may have broke.
