Maintenance Worker and Motor Vehicle Operator, Facility Management Division (FMD) U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Bluemont, Virginia 20135 From July 22, 2017 to Present (full-time with 40 or more hours per week).

Responsible for performing a full range of Roads and Grounds duties. As a Maintenance worker and Motor Vehicle Operator, oversees

the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Bluemont, Virginia site.

  • Use a computer to do timecards, send and receive emails, forms, and paperwork. (excel, word, outlook).
  • Operates a computer to keep track of Roads and Grounds supplies and inventory.
  • Drive Chevrolet and Dodge 2500 series pickup trucks to get back and forth to jobs on the site, and haul salt and supplies.
  • Operate garden tractors, zero turns to mow the grass on the site, a Kubota rtv to operate the leaf vacuum, and

pickup broken limbs for the trees to put into brush pile.

  • Drive three and five ton size diesel, and electric forklifts to load and unload trucks.
  • Use manuel and electric pallet jacks to move supplies, sidewalk salt and furniture.
  • Dispose of old motor oil, filters, transmission fluid, and hydraulic fluid in the right hazmat drum.
  • Operate different size trucks, tractors to clean the driveways, and sidewalks with snowplows and snow blowers.
  • Keep the ramps and sidewalks cleaned with snow shovels, hand snow blowers and salted for safety.
  • Load and unload furniture from buildings with carts, dollies, and steel furniture carts.
  • Drive a large commercial 26,000 lb. box, and stack body truck to move and deliver furniture, and supplies on site.
  • Use power tools, chain saws, hand saws, push mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers and a leaf vacuum.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (hard hat, gloves, eye and ear protection, and steel toe boots).
  • FEMA forklift training class (eight hours) completed on August, 2017.
  • Fixed traffic signs and painted cross walks for the safety of pedestrians.
  • Use drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, ladders and ratchet tie down straps.
  • Collect trash and put it in the proper place from different buildings daily.
  • Physically pushed and pulled 100 lbs. on flat and plywood carts.
  • Kept a clean and safe work place and also take Security and Safety test on the computer.
