  • Visually inspect joist welds for defects in compliance with AWS D1.1 and SJI standards
  • Rework defective welds by air arc gouging and replacing with proper weld
  • Keep record of defective welds with daily quality reports turned into supervisor weekly
  • Assist welders with welding of joist on a daily basis
  • Ensure product is fabricated per shoporder/blueprints and all welds are correct size and length
  • Inspect welds for defects such as undercut, porosity, cracks, overlap, incomplete penetration, and lack of fusion
  • Weekly use of crane, mig welders. grinders, drills, carbon arc, plasma cutter, band saws, shears, and torches
  • Perform repairs in the field of joist needing modification for engineering or design flaws
