Work History

Operations Lead

Cisco Systems, Inc.
05.2025 - Current

Results-oriented Operations Lead specific to Cisco's subscriptions and installed products fact tables. Served as onshore support for CAFE' (Customer Assets Data Foundation) team, which involved incident management and debugging, continuous monitoring of BODS and ControlM jobs, data population and feed management, temporary fixes and support.

  • First responders: When a job throws an error, we are the first responders. We will dig through the code to find the root cause before escalating to the core dev team.
  • Threads and workload management: Cisco uses Control-M, which is batch scheduling. We manage the "workflow" of data, restarting failed jobs, managing dependencies, and ensuring the "nightly run" finishes before the business opens in the morning.
  • Identifying code issues in scripted calculation views (Hana Studio): Debugging massive scripted views often involves tracing logic through execution plans, rather than just reading lines of code. Break the complex view into smaller SQL Script Table Functions, allowing us to test and debug isolated blocks of logic more easily than a single 1,000+ line view.
  • Temporary Data Fixes: If a feed fails or a bug corrupts a database record, I have written scripts to manually "patch" or "inject" data, so downstream systems can keep running while a permanent code fix is developed.
  • Monthly/Quarterly Feeds: These are high-stakes reporting cycles (often for finance or regulatory compliance). Our team ensures that massive amounts of data are processed and delivered to stakeholders, or third parties, on a strict deadline.
  • Liaising with the Offshore Team: I am the primary point of contact for teams in different time zones (IST, PST, and EST). This involves setting clear expectations, managing handovers, and careful monitoring of jobs that are running in different time zones.
  • Incident/escalation management: CAFE's operations team works on incidents raised by different end users, and issues range from data manipulation, code debugging, and platform support. I own and publish the dashboard where bottlenecks are identified before they become red items.
  • Support during Outage & Downtime: My team provides support to platform teams when there is a scheduled outage or downtime. Ensured all critical processes (such as data backups or batch jobs) are successfully completed or paused before the downtime begins. Conducted Quality Assurance (QA) and manual testing once systems are back online to verify that everything is running optimally.
  • Root Cause & Planning: For every new issue, I have been involved in the post-mortem. Instead of just fixing a symptom, I have helped to create a 'Standard Operating Procedure' (SOP) to ensure the same mistake doesn't happen twice.
