This position was newly created to reduce the workload on charge nurses, allowing them additional time to devote to nursing staff, patients, and family care. The COA is a member of the patient care services team with primary responsibility for rounding on nursing units, performing quality checks, and reviewing medical records for accuracy and completion of listed measures. The COA then reports back with issues and resolutions to the appropriate nursing staff and leadership teams. The COA works closely with the nursing, quality improvement, and patient safety leadership to support compliance with patient care outcomes.
I started out my career in health care as a nursing assistance in long term care, medical assistant in doctor's offices, patient care tech and surgical tech in the hospital and eventually earning a Associates in Science degree RN program in 1999.
I then became a mother of twins focusing on my family working at home, volunteering in church and the school system for 9 years.
I returned to the work force in 2014 working with children with profound disabilities, became a teaching assistant for YMCA Head Start Program, Patient Access Registrar, Clinical Outcome Assistant, Private Practice Speech Therapy Administrator and currently a Paraprofessional supporting elementary age students.
I have a passion for serving in my community, promoting health and fitness with a positive and caring attitude. In addition I am gifted with strong people skills, a self starter and detail oriented with integrity, and a life learner always seeking to grow and make meaningful connections with people of all faith and cultural backgrounds.
