  • Perform Basic and Advanced repairs on all FRD vehicles and equipment, to include but not limited to mechanical systems, electrical systems multiplex and non-multiplex, fire pumps, Hydraulic systems, generators, and aerials.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and non scheduled repairs to include offsite and after hours.
  • Prepare new vehicles to go In service to include but not limited to mounting loose equipment. Mount all firefighters' tools and gear to better suit their operational needs of the vehicle.
  • Fabricate specialized holders, brackets, boxes, etc. That hold firefighters' equipment and paint to match OEM finish.
  • Assist other apparatus facilities when necessary, such as annual pump, aerial, and hose testing.
  • Keep detailed records of repairs on vehicles and equipment.
  • Deployment of equipment and supplies to remote locations when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe garage environment, including maintaining records of shop equipment.
  • Assist fellow mechanics when necessary, during complex repairs, including other county staff.
  • Aid outside vendors, firms, and other agencies in the repair and transport of FRD vehicles.
  • Work with parts department to ensure we have all supplies to meet our operational needs.
  • Perform various projects and campaigns such as EMS safe installs, CAD dock replacement and SCBA holder replacement.
  • Perform backup supervisor duties when needed, including reports, overseeing repairs, scheduling, and supervising other staff.
  • Teach firefighters multiple times a year in "Morning with a Mechanic," where proper vehicle inspection and maintenance procedures are discussed, and it is noted when it is required to take corrective action.
  • Conduct test drives before and after repair services.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
