• Watchkeeping: Junior engineers may stand watch, analyze and monitor the engine room and other engineering spaces.

Maintenance and Repairs:

• Assisting with Repairs: Often assist senior engineers with maintenance to generators , which may involve oil changes fuel filter changes, inventory spare parts, and executing repairs.
• Firefighting: Junior engineers receive training in firefighting procedures and may be involved in drills.
• Collaborated Safety Checks: perform safety checks on equipment and systems to ensure they are in good working for instance bilge system perform check to float in order to set notification to main control .

Monitoring and Recording:

• Watchkeeping: QMED may stand watch, monitoring the engine room and other engineering spaces.
• QMED assist in maintaining and operating various shipboard equipment, including pumps, engines, winches, hydraulic systems, air compressors, and sewage systems.
• Inspection and Logging: inspect equipment, log the condition of machinery, and report any unusual operations to the watch engineer.
