I had the opportunity to shadow within the hospital through the ETSU Medical Horizons Program. Here, I was able to shadow four different specialties through the timespan of a month where I was not only able to gain insight on the daily routine of a doctor, but I was also able to gain hands on experience. I was able to scrub into various surgeries as well as grow in my knowledge of medicine. Furthermore, I have attended the National Youth Leadership Forum of Medicine and Health Care. Throughout this experience I was able to gain hands on experience within the health care field and I was able to gain knowledge about healthcare specific subjects. I have completed various other job shadowing opportunities within Ballad Health and was the co-president of Pre-Med Club throughout my senior year of high school. This included leading a group of individuals and scheduling time for those in healthcare to speak during the club meetings. Currently, I am a member of the Pre-Medical Club and the Psychology Club at Liberty University. In the Pre-Medical Club I have had the opportunity to hear from a number of physicians in various specialties, practice suturing, and tour the Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
