- I joined the fire service in July 2024 with Suffolk Fire and Rescue in Virginia.
- I obtained my Fire 1 and 2 while attending Hampton Roads Fire Academy as well as my EMT and AEMT state and national license.
- My AEMT clinical time was done in multiple hospitals and ICU’s.
- I have taken Emergency Vehicle Operator level 1, 2, and 3 allowing me to operate engines, ambulances, and heavy apparatus such as heavy rescues and ladder trucks to exclude TDA’s.
- I have experience riding back seat on an Engine Company, Hook and Ladder Company, Heavy Rescue Company, and operating an Ambulance.
- I have real Commercial/Residential structural fire experience on all three companies from within my own city and running Automatic Aid with the neighboring cities ranging from first due and second due conducting fire attacks, searches, ventilation, water supply, and RIT.
- From riding specialty apparatus I have been on many vehicle accidents ranging from simple fender benders to pins/extrications, rollovers, and ejections.
- From being stationed at a hazmat team station I have done hazmat training and have been on fuel spills and gas leaks in an IDLH environment.
- Since being stationed with specialty apparatus we train weekly on things such as rope rescues, maydays, confines space ops, apparatus placement, egress points with ladders, and vehicle rescues/stabilizations. As an AEMT I have been on many calls from BLS to ALS life saving calls.
- As an AEMT I am the ambulance operator but I am able to provide ALS care to patients within my scope of practice as well as ride in calls if needed to.
- My scope of practice allows me to provide AIS treatment such as starting IV’s, administering medications and running a full cardiac arrest until a higher level of care arrives.
- I have experience running calls as an AEMT ranging from GSW’s, high mechanism auto ejections, cardiac arrest, pediatric calls, and many other types of calls.
- I am still actively learning more about being on the job and looking to take more classes while I can.
