
Full time park ranger that resides on site in the park. Responsible for managing maintenance operations in the park to include, managing the allocated maintenance budget, completing state procurement/purchasing tasks, managing the maintenance of park buildings and facilities, managing landscaping/grounds maintenance, and supervising maintenance employees. Also takes on-call responsibility and responds to park emergencies outside of scheduled work hours. Additional responsibilities include vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance, chainsaw felling sawyer, serving as the park’s site safety officer, and a certified wildland firefighter plus member of the DCR controlled burn crew.
Responsible for maintaining Westmoreland State Park’s 6 miles of trail along with completing other recourse management around the park. Also responsible for leading
and assigning tasks to other wage staff, along with assisting with the general park maintenance.
Performs recurring grounds care, facility and equipment maintenance, light construction, and cleaning tasks necessary to operate Virginia State Park facilities. Duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning bathhouses; mowing grass; raking/removing leaf litter, trash and litter removal; painting; trail work; cleaning campsites, cabins, meeting facility, linen storage building, and office; and cutting/bundling firewood for merchandise sales.
Provide customer service by welcoming visitors, providing accurate information about park amenities, providing directions to park points of interest, and answering questions about park interpretive programs. Responsible for operating a point-of-sale terminal and handling merchandise sales, as well as equipment rentals.
