MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Work Leader in Editing:

  • Independently supervises and manages the daily work of the New Delhi Editing Unit.Has immediate and full responsibility for quantity and quality of work (regardless of language, format and script) produced by the unit. personally handles editing of problematic films and fiches.
  • Editing of digital images and digital preservation done by camera operators. Inserting digital images of retakes of newspaper, magazine, manuscripts etc.
  • Advises and counsels New Delhi's editors on performance related matters, referring intractable problems to Deputy Chief. provides oral and written input to Deputy Chief on the annual ERs of editors.
  • maintains production control over the entire editing procedure, abiding by or enforcing established priorities. Determines whether individual workloads need to be adjusted so as to prevent the development of backlogs. Ensures timely receipt of material to be edited from the Editing Unit and timely delivery to the Duplication unit.
  • supervises and manages every stage of the unit's workflow for all microfilm and microfiche received from the processing unit for editing purpose until the edited film and fiche is delivered to the Deputy Chief for quality control review.
  • Assist the Deputy Chief address administrative and technical functions (including Methylene Blue Testing, rule interpretations and bibliographic issues) of the editing unit.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment to the microform technician responsible for equipment. Ensures that editor observe equipment maintenance guidelines, and maintain cleanliness in and around the editing work area.
  • Keeps track of supplies required for editing unit, alerting the Deputy Chief of the need for additional supplies in a timely manner.
