Performed general maintenance on all apparatus and components and participated in fire and EMS training on a regular basis. I was an instructor at the regional fire academy where new recruits went for initial training. Drove and operated all apparatus to include ambulances , fire engines, 100' ladder truck and rescue boat. I was an acting officer in the department to take the place if the Lieutenant was not there. Performed public education on EMS and fire safety to groups, guest, and citizens.

Parts Manager

The Fleet Manager Inc
11.1997 - 06.1998

Ordered all parts and maintained a stocking inventory of fast moving parts and shop supplies for an independent truck repair facility. Services provided were preventative maintenance, both in house and mobile, refer repair, lift gate repair and install, full body shop and truck rentals. Worked with the shop foreman to order all the parts in a timely manner so repairs could be made. I would make adjustments to our stocking inventory if the part was becoming more frequent or was able to purchase for a substantial savings.

Parts Manager/Assistant Fleet Manager

Cortez Management
03.1993 - 10.1997

Parts manager for a private company who was contracted to the City of Richmond (VA) School Transportation for all fleet maintenance of the school buses. I maintained a parts inventory that we purchased through vendors and used and also parts that were inherited from the city when the contract started. Those parts were older and some were obsolete but through contacts I was able to get rid of about 75% of that inventory. Dealt with the various school bus manufacturer vendors for parts, and local truck part suppliers and tire vendors. Acted in place of the fleet manager in his absence. Worked on a special project when the company did a parts consortium for 11 different school districts throughout Virginia. I helped negotiate deals on parts purchasing for those 11 plus Richmond for better buying power. Mainly focused on filters, batteries, tires, shop supplies, oils, antifreeze. Very successful program.
