In my freshman year of college I created my own hat company called Dirty Dog Hat Company. This was a fun business I created so that I could make and design my own hats for a cheaper price. This has grown into a small business where many people have bought hats from. This hat company has been a fun way to expand my arts and crafts, but also learn about the things that go on in a business and how to counteract challenges.
I have been doing the Virginia Tech Pathways program for many years dating back to the 6th grade when it was called Imagination. This program would allow me to attend an engineering camp at Virginia Tech for 2 weeks. I would stay in the dorms, attend "classes" each day, and each in the dining halls . I feel that this prepared me for college as it showed me what life in college would look like away from home. This program gave me many connections and opportunities like meeting the director of the James Webb Space Telescope and working with companies like VDOT.
